School's Purpose

Teaching and Learning. . . P.B.I.S. . . R.T.I. . .
"Teaching and Learning" = the school's mission
The district’s objective is to advance the school’s mission of “Teaching and Learning.” Sandy Run’s focus, in accordance with the district’s goal, is reaching every child through rigor.
P.B.I.S. = Positive Approach to Behavior Intervention and Supports. PBIS is a systemic approach to proactive school-wide behavior based on the R.T. I. (Response to Intervention) model.  PBIS applies evidence-based programs, practices, and strategies:
  • for all students to: increase academic performance
  • to improve safety
  • to decrease problem behavior
  • to establish a positive school culture.
The PBIS model has been successfully implemented in thousands of schools in over 40 states, resulting in dramatic reductions in disciplinary interventions and increases in academic achievement.

Sandy Run K-8 School was named a 2010-2011 P.B.I.S. School of Honor by the South Carolina Dept. of Education
