Another GREAT Night at Sandy Run

Rachel Toole, Literacy Coach at Sandy Run, hosted the second family literacy night on October 18, 2016. Parents and their children enjoyed integrated reading and science activities centered around a pumpkin theme facilitated by first grade teacher, Lauren Snipes and kindergarten teacher, Angela Smith. The children enjoyed a read-aloud and then interacted with their parents assembling Pumpkin Life Cycle projects. The evening ended, as it always does, with the children and their parents sharing a quick meal and choosing books to take home to read together.

We work hard at Sandy Run to promote family literacy. We believe teaching and learning are most successful when parents and their children share in the process. If you have a child in pre-k, kindergarten, or first grade, please plan to join us for our next GREAT Night, November 29, 2016.
